About This Opportunity
Krowji, as part of creative and cultural charity Creative Kernow, have partnered with Cornwall Council to offer up to four funded creative residencies at Tehidy Country Park between October 2024 and March 2025. The maximum duration of each residency will be 3 months long; the duration will depend on the parameters of the successful artists proposals. The Tehidy Creative Residency Programme has been established to provide opportunities for creatives to progress their career and contribute towards the growth of Cornwall’s creative and cultural sector.
Nestled close to the edge of Tehidy Country Park, the largest woodland in West Cornwall, there are two former estate workers cottages which have been sensitively restored. Accommodation and studio space will be provided within one of these beautiful, characterful, and inspiring cottages. The artists will have access to a yard with open and covered workspaces in which hot works and the use of tools can take place, making these residencies suitable for a diverse range of practitioners.
The aim of these residences is to increase public engagement with Tehidy Country Park, particularly those who experience barriers to accessing the outdoors. Workshops and social engagement activities can be run from the residency cottage, garden, stunning nearby orchard and woodland as well as the Community and Wellness Centre housed within the neighbouring cottage.
The intricacies of the seasonal changes as well as the unique sensory experiences of the woodland provide a wonderful pool of inspiration for artists whose practices are engaged in exploring the natural world, particularly Cornwall’s historic landscape. Artists applying for the creative residencies will be interested in engaging a wide range of people with the woodlands through creative means, this can include painting, drawing, sound work, poetry, sculpture and more.
