Creative Kernow, based at Krowji, is the umbrella organisation for the following projects. Together we support the production, promotion and distribution of work by creative practitioners in Cornwall because we believe in creativity's transformative power and want more people to benefit from it.

Accessibility

Krowji’s buildings are spread out across a 1.5 acre site and have varying degrees of physical accessibility. Our Percy Williams Building is DDA compliant and we have made a number of modifications and improvements to our existing spaces in the old buildings.

Reception

Our new reception office is based in G06, Percy Williams Building. It is fully accessible from all car parks through the main front doors and has a nearby accessible WC.

1907 Building, café and meeting rooms

Unfortunately, our foyer is not wheelchair accessible through the main front doors due to the two steps leading up to them. From the Percy Williams Building side, there is ramped access to the courtyard and cafe, followed by access to the foyer via an automatic sliding door.

There is an accessible WC located near the cafe.

There is no wheelchair access to the first floor of the 1907 building (Studios W12 & W17 – 25).

All of our meeting rooms are accessible via the courtyard ramp.

G12 Krowji

G12 Krowji can be found under the second bridge that joins our Phase 1 and Phase 2 Percy Williams Buildings together. You can find the space by walking to the Science Block entrance and turning to face the Percy Williams Building bridge. Our G12 Krowji events are always sign posted using a large a-board on the left hand side.

Percy Williams Building, Studios G01-G12, 101-118, 201 – 220

Access to the building is via keypad controlled powered external doors.  All visitors need to contact the studio they are visiting via the keypad and the door will then be opened remotely.  Inside, there is level access on each floor and a passenger lift is available to each level.  Some internal fire-doors are on powered hold-backs.  There is a disabled access WC on each floor and a level access wet-room/shower on the first floor for use by all tenants.

Science Block, Studios W05-W10

There is a ramp from the car park to the Science Block front door. This ramp is slightly steeper than the recommended gradient for wheelchair use. There is also a ramp from the west side of the building. The Science Block external doors are usually locked during the day for security purposes so all visitors need to notify the person they are coming to see in advance.

The Science Block double doors currently have narrow single leaves (650 mm / 25.5 inches) and wheelchair users may need assistance in order to unbolt the second door. There is an easy-entry WC which is partially DDA compliant at present and level access to all studios once inside.

Elliott Hut – woodwork studios

We regret that this building is currently inaccessible to wheelchair users, but we can supply a portable access ramp if required.

Old Schoolhouse

We regret that this building is currently inaccessible to wheelchair users, but we can supply a portable access ramp if required. The lower ground floor of the building is level once inside. The upper floor only has access via stairs.
