Art For Good is an installation by artist, Anthony Garratt with Newlyn School of Art, in aid of the creation of a National Trust footpath between Land’s End and Sennen in Cornwall
Members of the public from all age groups and backgrounds have been invited to join in a ‘mass painting event’ in an attempt to set a World Record for the most painters simultaneously creating individual landscape paintings at the same location, en plein air. The intention is that the participants will form a continuous line of painters from Lands End to Sennen.
All participants will stand an equal distance apart and the reverse of their painting panels will be painted pink so that from an aerial perspective, they form a continuous dotted line when held above the participants heads; the denotation of a footpath on an OS Map.
The event not only encourages the idea that painting outdoors is an excellent way of connecting with the environment and creates a visually spectacular art installation, but also raises awareness of ‘desire lines’ and funds for the National Trust to complete the build of a designated footpath between the two locations.
