Over the next few months Krowji tenant Elizabeth Tomos will be hosting new workshops from their studio.

Introduction to Earth & Lake Pigments’ workshop

Saturday 21st February & Saturday 2nd May from 1-5pm

We will look at how you develop earth and lake pigments from botanicals in order to be able to make oil-based inks. We will work on grinding our own pigments and binding them into an oil-based medium. You will also get to experiment with oil-based relief printmaking using botanical materials and the inks you have created. You will be able to take your own handmade inks home!

Introduction to Botanical Inks & Dyes

You will be introduced to methods for extracting colour from plant-based materials, including food waste as an approach to sustainable making practices. You will learn how to identify suitable plant matter for colour making and the difference between colour-fast and fugitive colour. You will be introduced to permaculture principles and how these should impact foraging and growing practices for dye plants.
