Studio Life at Krowji

A space to work, to create; an environment that stimulates artistic and creative endeavours is more valuable than ever. Throughout this challenging year, we have acknowledged how important a dedicated workspace can be. Across the different buildings we have here at Krowji, there are a range of studio options from small to large, shared to individual self-contained spaces. Artists, designers, makers and creative businesses have such variety and require dynamic workspaces. At Krowji, our aim is to accommodate those unique creative needs.

Small shared spaces

Perfect for illustrators, makers and artists, our small shared spaces can work well for tenants who can enjoy a supportive creative environment amongst makers of a similar discipline. Our dedicated shared ceramics space has up to 6 ceramicists and potters working within their own spaces designed to suit their making process, including storage and individual kiln requirements. We also have a dedicated jewellers’ space, where individual workshops are located within the same area, again so that practitioners can benefit from proximity to others working in the same creative field.

Small self-contained spaces

Ever popular with our tenants and those on our waiting list, we have added to our collection of small, self-contained spaces with our new Phase 2 project. These spaces are highly desirable as they offer artists a private, contemplative space where they can produce concentrated work in their own unique environment. Smaller spaces offer privacy and solitude while still being part of the vibrant wider Krowji community.

Large self-contained spaces

If space, light, and large wall space are your idea of studio perfection, then we have a studio for you. Bright, white wall studios, situated within our new Percy Williams Building, offer a sense of exciting possibility. A number of these studios are also on the ground floor, with double doors for external access for large deliveries and private entrances. Panoramic views and a high vantage point over the north Cornwall landscape are provided by the large windows in the first and second floor studios. These studios are designed to cater to desk-based creative agencies and digital businesses, as well as artists who require large open wall space for hanging their work.

Large shared spaces

It is worth bearing in mind that the large studio spaces we offer at Krowji can be taken up by an artist, designer group, or individual creatives who wish to share the cost of a bigger space while enjoying the larger work environment. A number of fine artists, illustrators and small-scale craft workers currently enjoy shared studio spaces at Krowji.

Collectively our studios and tenants help build a vibrant creative community within the walls of Krowji’s buildings. While our tenants’ excellent work travels far and wide through numerous mediums, the special character of Krowji is the juxtaposition of the old and the new, the digital agencies neighbouring porcelain artists and textile designers, the rich mix of characters and creative work. We are very proud of this community and welcome you to explore studio options for your own creative practice.
