We are pleased to announce that Martin Baister is exhibiting in ‘Upon’ as part of the Newlyn School of Art Professional Landscape Programme End-of-Year Exhibition at Tremenheere Scuplture Gardens in Penzance.
“Upon” showcases a diverse collection of contemporary landscape artworks developed over the course of an intensive twelve-month programme. Throughout the year, artists have travelled from across the country to Cornwall every two months, working together under the guidance of leading tutors while developing their individual artistic practices.
The title “Upon” reflects the artists’ varied responses to landscape – the moments, memories and encounters that emerge through a sustained engagement with place. The exhibition explores the relationship between artist and environment, revealing personal interpretations of the landscapes that surround and inspire us. From dramatic coastlines and rural landscapes to intimate and deeply personal responses to place, the work demonstrates the breadth, energy and vitality of contemporary landscape artists today.”
