We are pleased to share that Krowji tenant Amelia Temple has an open-studio / live-lab with Kresen Kernow, as part of her funded work with Immersive Arts UK. This runs from the 18th August until the 22nd August 2026, from 10am until 4pm daily (closed on Friday 21st August). This will be on-site at Kresen Kernow, Little Vauxhall, Redruth TR15 1AS
“The open studio is set up to experiment with how immersive technology can contribute to archival practices, including the preservation of human perspectives and experiences (funded by Immersive Arts UK).
Inspired by the archive collection at Kresen Kernow, the open studio will be building prototype ‘exhibit’ pieces that respond to human interaction: sound, touch or motion. With audience engagement, they create their own ‘sites of memory’, that can capture human interaction and elements of human experience that are often under-represented in archives, preserving them in time.
The work focuses on the Cold War period, considered by some to be unarchivable due to its nature. It is difficult to document it accurately or conventionally, as an era filled with political and social tension, negotiation, confusion, secrecy and high levels of societal threat and social anxiety.
Drop-in and see the work in progress, ask questions and explore what’s being developed, during our usual opening times, 18-20 and 22 August, not open on Friday 21 August.“
