We are delighted to congratulate Ross Williams MBE on being awarded the Trelawny Plate, in recognition of his outstanding contribution to arts and culture in Cornwall.
The Trelawny Plate is presented every two years to the person judged by a senior and representative panel to have “contributed most to the spirit of Cornwall”. The award was presented on 15th July 2026 by the @lordlieutenantcornwall, Colonel Sir Edward Bolitho, during a special Service of Thanksgiving and Commemoration at St Nun’s Church, Pelynt.
For almost five decades, Ross has championed arts, heritage and culture across Cornwall. He has been an integral part of developing Creative Kernow, Krowji and the Buttermarket, has supported countless artists, organisations and cultural initiatives, and is the co-founder of Redruth Revival. Ross has indeed made an extraordinary contribution to Cornwall’s creative life.
Reflecting on the award with @RedruthRevival, Ross said:
“This is a wholly unexpected award, and I feel very honoured to receive it. My work in the creative and cultural sectors in Cornwall has always been about being part of a team, and I’m very grateful to all those people who have helped with that over the past 35 years.”
Congratulations, Ross, on this richly deserved honour.
