CAMP residency at Krowji

CAMP, a member-led network for artists, writers, curators, and producers living in Plymouth, Devon and Cornwall, has announced its two artist residency opportunities. While one will be hosted at KARST in Plymouth, we are thrilled to share the news that the second residency will be hosted by none other than Krowji!

This residency is aimed to support artistic research, play, and experimentation within the blank canvas of a Krowji studio in our Percy Williams Building, and while CAMP wants applicants to describe what they plan to work on during the residency, there is no expectation of a finished work at the end of the two months.

CAMP will provide listening support and practical advice, and also a ‘critical friend’ for the resident over one or two days; someone who might be a writer, artist, academic, or curator who will be secured by CAMP and the successful applicant before the residency starts. CAMP will also support the resident to hold their public event (subject to Covid guidelines), providing booking and marketing support, and support locating a venue (if applicable).

Who can apply: Only members of CAMP can apply and undertake the residency, however membership is open to any artists/writers/producers/curators living in Devon and Cornwall. The artist residency is open to any career stage (emerging, mid-career, established) and any form of art-making (across all visual art mediums), although studio guidelines may come with certain restrictions.

Budget: A budget of £1400 will cover fee and all expenses (travel, materials, accommodation if required etc), and a separate budget of £200 is in place for an event to be held at the end of the residency which could cover materials, refreshments, equipment hire, technical support, and printed material for the event. There is a separate budget available to go towards access needs which can be discussed between the successful applicants and CAMP before the residency starts.

Deadline and residency period: The deadline for applications is Monday 10th May, while the studio residency is from 1st June to 31st July 2021.
