Trudie Moore
Trudie Moore’s paintings explore the tension created by control and restraint and the contrast with freedom in the painting process.
Her uplifting use of luminous expanses of colour and sheer transparencies act as both a visual and a real layer upon the surface of the canvas. Through colour, she is unconsciously finding an affinity with the clean, clear light and nature in Cornwall.
Natural materials and gentle veils often contrast with synthetic acrylic, strong fluorescents and crisp, precise edges which are applied through a range of process-led and experimental techniques.
Materiality of the work is explored through large scale canvases, acrylic pieces that transmit and displace colour and light, and installations which play with ideas of three and four dimensions, sometimes emerging from the wall or floor.
Often on a large scale, these concepts invite an energising physical and emotional response from the viewer so that they can feel an experience on this experimental journey into form and space.
A founding theme of colour within the ongoing work is influenced by taking part in workshops with Bridget Riley in the 1990s.
