Her stitched pictures of Cornish boats and harbours have been very popular and have inspired a new range of lampshades
Alongside these, she has developed a range of items using recycled fabrics.
These include a variety of bags made using reclaimed coffee bean sacks. These lovely jute bags come from many countries and feature lots of images and lettering. Their condition varies but the best are put aside for using. Many times there is a clatter on the floor as a few remaining beans make a bid for freedom.
These bags are lined with fabrics from Marie’s stash of vintage and retro fabrics, making each one a unique individual.
Marie also makes a range of Handi-bags, cases for gadgets such as your Kindle, I-pad, Tablet or good, old fashioned diary and notebook. With pockets included, your pen, pencils, tickets, whatever will never be lost again. The range also includes cases for you glasses and sunglasses.
Another stash of favourite embroidered tablecloths, napkins and doilies are made into lengths of bunting. Beautiful in a sunny garden, they are equally at home around a bedroom or dresser.
Marie can be found at the Saffron Trading Company’s Art and Design Fair, held weekly in St Ives Guildhall. Also working on various projects including ‘The Little Book Project’ and ‘Helston Makes’.
