Juliet Middleton-Batts

Juliet is a story-teller and likes to represent the hidden or overlooked in
unexpected ways. Perception and alternative ways of seeing are exploited by
her in order to create work that interweaves social histories and collective
memories.

Her work combines a variety of printmaking techniques to create unique
textures and patterns from domestic objects, vintage textiles and everyday
ephemera. Printed onto various materials including dressmaking patterns, tissue
paper and book pages, her intricate prints are then layered to create detailed,
distinctive collages. These are then applied to a diverse range of surfaces
including canvas panels, wooden blocks, greetings cards and Cornish seashells!
Juliet’s work is meticulous and restrained, simple but highly complex, and
creates nostalgic memories of home through her use of domestic ephemera
and objects.
