Emerson Gaudin

I’m Emerson, an emerging ceramicist from Jersey, living in Cornwall.

Working primarily with wheel-thrown porcelain, I was first drawn to its fickle and challenging nature. Porcelain demands patience and precision at every stage of its lifecycle. This care is rewarded with qualities that captivated me: brilliant whiteness, smooth surfaces, and delicate translucency.

I create functional and decorative pieces inspired by the elegant forms and subtle glazes of traditional porcelain practice, mostly stemming from East Asia. Through this, my work explores soft curves, balanced proportions, and restrained surface detail with carving and texture.

Entering the world of ceramics has opened up an ongoing creative journey for me. I’m still discovering the kind of potter I want to become and the objects I want to bring into the world. My work continues to evolve with every kiln load as I learn, experiment, and discover new possibilities.
