The work represents an imaginary journey of the life cycle of a silk cocoon. Incorporating all the geography of Sally’s life.
Visualising the silk theme from home town in Cheshire, to overseas in Africa finally linking to the town of Todmorden on the Lancashire, West Yorkshire border, Sally’s home for the past 11 years. The entwining links to the home of the king cotton of Lancashire and the wool mills of Yorkshire, now long since gone. These creative pieces become precious and nurtured by Sally like a cocooning effect of an historical article from the past to a contemporary piece of art.
