Maggie Cochran

Maggie’s art is all about her love affair with the Cornish beaches and coastline.

‘I want to bring home that feeling of being on the beach and to hang on to it, so I pour it out in my paintings – those feelings of freedom, joy, energy, serenity and awe at the sheer beauty, power and magnificence of the coastal landscape.

There’s a sense of time passing with the movement of the tides but also a sense of timelessness and just being in that moment and being completely happy.

Maggie has a Fine Art degree from the University of Chichester and won the Cornwall Life Landscape Painter of the Year 2016. While she has always painted, Maggie did not take it up professionally until her children left home.

Maggie donates to Surfers Against Sewage and Sea-Changers. She loves that she can use her art to help conserve the marine environment that she is so passionate about.
